Sofia Garcia
Hello! My name is Sofia Garcia and I am a senior in highschool. I used the funds from the Marguerite Gambo Wood to help me with my training to become a private pilot. It has made my training faster and less stressful financially. Thank you so much to the Aloha 99s for providing me with this scholarship and I look forward to giving back in any way I can in the future!

Gabriana Wond
Aloha, my name is Gabriana Wond. I’m from Makakilo and live in Kapolei, Oʻahu. I am very grateful to have been awarded the Marguerite Gambo Wood Flight Training Scholarship. Thus far, I have used this scholarship award for my flight training in order to work towards completing my private pilot’s license. This award has significantly impacted me and my family as flight training can be quite costly. Moreover, by receiving this scholarship, I have been able to get a head start on my dream of becoming a commercial airline pilot, as well as having to worry less about the financial side of my flight training. Through this scholarship I have been empowered to continue my passion of flying and working towards my goals for the future. The Marguerite Gambo Wood Flight Training Scholarship has enabled me to continue my flight training without being stunted by the expense of training. |

Hannah Whelan
Aloha! My name is Hannah Whelan and I am one of the very grateful recipients of the 2023 Marguerite Gambo Woods Scholarship. This scholarship has greatly impacted the timeline of my Commercial flight training. Having the financial support of this scholarship has allowed me to schedule more flights with fewer days in between training and the ability to efficiently study and fly without worrying about finances.

Caitlin Thomas
My name is Caitlin Thomas and I firmly believe that scholarships change lives! In 2022, I was blessed with the MGW Scholarship and it helped me to complete majority of my instrument rating requirements. I flew until I was 7 months pregnant and took time after giving birth to apply to more scholarships and was grateful to win the MGW Scholarship once more in 2023. It is now helping me to complete my instrument rating and will hopefully get me started on my commercial license.
Meridith Grimmer As I started my flight lessons, eager & excited, I was flying 3 to 4 times a week. At that pace, I quickly ran out of funds, which was threatening to slow my progress. The MGW Scholarship came along at the perfect moment, re-filling my flight lesson fund, and re-invigorating my pace. I am in the beginning stages, still working on my private pilot certificate, and working on my landings now! Every little bit of encouragement helps! It was exciting and inspiring to receive my first scholarship via the legacy of an awesome female aviator, Marguerite Gambo Woods. |
